If you don’t know who the Hash House Harriers are, I recommend you check out their site because they are awesome, and hard to describe for outsiders. The short version is, picture a running scavenger type hunt, where instead of looking for items you look for cryptic symbols written in flour. They tell you which way to run to keep on the trail of flour dots. When you reach the end of the trail you celebrate with booze, snacks, inappropriate songs, shots of beer and wine given as punishment and all kinds of shenanigans. Like the kinds of shenanigans that lead to this:
We did run. We ran quite a bit. We ran more than I expected to be honest! We put in some solid height meters, making it up and over Zuriberg then down to the zoo, across the city behind the ETH and back to the starting point. Or beer stop. It was fun! I don’t know the last time I ran so much, these guys are definitely going to amp up my running skills. They had set up a bunch of symbols which in true ideals of equality take the first five runners to reach them and make them run all the way back to the back of the pack. A good equalizer, this had us all arrive quite closely together at the end! It was a unique experience, the flashing headlights, the jumping shadows, the odd coded yells echoing through the black woods, the mud. I will definitely be hanging out with these cool kids more often!
